I am having a problem recognizing/identifying what my talents are.Hence,how I should work for God.

My question is about the common saying that "God will never give you more than you can handle,” as I hear this often said in church circles. Due to our default sinful nature towards self-sufficiency to mange things on our own, rather than allowing His power to replace our weakness, does this notion not reinforce our independence? Are we not given circumstances that test and shape our character through the crucibles of life in order that we may recognize our inadequateness and turn to a Saviour for support and deliverance beyond what we can handle?
