If the veil was torn at the cross, why did Christ minister in two phases in heaven?
Matthew 27:50–51 records that the veil of the earthly temple was torn when Christ died. This signified the end of the earthly sacrificial system and the fulfillment of the types in the true Lamb of God.
But if the veil was torn, why did the heavenly sanctuary still retain a distinction between the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place until 1844? How do we reconcile the rending of the earthly veil with the continued two-phase priestly ministry of Christ and the beginning of the antitypical Day of Atonement?
